FAI
FAI stands for Fabbrica Attrezzature Industriali and was founded in Italy in 1963 by Giovanni Bettanin, a former Ford tractor dealer. FAI manufactured skid steer loaders, backhoe loaders, front loaders, wheel loaders, both wheeled and tracked excavators, mini excavators, and terrain forklifts. Their original models were wheeled excavators, with the largest excavator they ever produced being a 43.5 ton model.
In the 1980s, some FAI models were marketed as HyMac, and it is said that the late model HyMac machines are actually FAI machines. In the late 1980s, FAI built Komatsu mini excavators for Komatsu. Komatsu took full control of FAI in 1995 and the FAI brand name was dropped in 1997. However, FAI machines are still used in the construction industry today.
